Take Me To The River
Take Me To The River was Alexander Reynolds' first solo exhibition. The work included five large oil paintings. This collection work addresses themes of romance, sexuality, and intimacy. Alexander found that these themes were compelling and universal. Regardless of the gender, race, or sexual orientation of the viewer the subjects discussed are experienced in some capacity whether it is being reminisced, actively being experienced or longed for. The arrangement of these images are in fact more idealized versions of courtship and romance and consciously ignores the inevitable reality of the imperfections of humans and the relationships they create with one another.
